Nick Haüs (Nicole Homrighaus) contemporary, Mexican American, artist and art teacher based in remote West Texas, earned her BFA and MA at Sul Ross State University. She was always drawn to art from early childhood, and this further developed and helped her define herself in adolescence and adulthood. The important role that art played in her own life, led to her career of teaching art with troubled adolescents in residential treatment. This experience has furthered her appreciation for art as she sees time and again, Art’s powerful influence upon young people with problems from all walks of life. Nicole has presented her work at Sul Ross State University and in various galleries in the Alpine area, and has participated in Gallery Night and Art Walk. Her work most takes the form of Abstract Expressionism in acrylic on canvas, and her various influences range from Georgia O’ Keefe to Paul Jenkins, and Frida Kahlo among the many others.
