Artist Statement:
"As a child, I was mesmerized by all of the colorful floral images my mother used to paint. I didn’t realize that her flower paintings would eventually find their way into my bones, creating in me a deep connection to nature and an intense desire to capture its mysteries with my camera. After I photograph natural world images, I digitally paint them to enhance the mystical quality of what I envision as lush, antique paintings. I call this technique Photo Art. Through this technique, I was able to unearth the heart of this amazing rose."
Bio:
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. My mother was an artist and an antiques dealer. From watching my mother restore crumbling antiques, I learned early on that mystery lies deep within everything; you just need to unearth it.
My mother painted large floral murals on our bedroom walls, the vines creeping along our doors like veins beneath skin. As a child, I didn’t realize that those flower murals would eventually find their way into my bones.
