"Paisaje" ("Landscape") by Carlos Pardo, Oil on Canvas
24 x 19
My name is CarlosPardo, I am from Murcia in Southern Spain. I was born in 1970 in a family of artists beginning with my great grandfather at the end of the nineteenth century. I was brought up among painters and sculptors. My grandfather Carlos Gomez Cano was a painter and decorator of festival floats. I grew up in his workshop (which is now mine) helping painters, carpenters, blacksmiths, cardboard artisans. I also learned a lot with my father, Pedro Pardo, who was a sculptor, in all of his tasks: modeling, foundry, molds, chiseling, engraving, mounting pieces, exhibits and many more. My artist training evolved in these two workshops, combining studies and contacts with numerous artists. In 1984 I began my solitary path. In 1991 I bought an abandoned property and I began building my home-study. In 1999, after eight years of intense work and with my almost finished home-study I took up painting seriously. I had my first individual exhibition. First I followed the impressionists. Later on, in my following exhibitions I went into a Cezannian language, with a more evolved line, where volume, planes and color build formal dynamics. In 2011 I received the first award in the national contest Villa de Fuente Alamo, the oldest and most prestigious contest of the region. I have carried out 23 individual exhibitions and I have participated in 21 joint exhibitions in various galleries, art centers and museums.
